TDN OFFICIAL PLAY RULES · VERSION 01

One table. One standard.

The Domino Network rules establish a clear, competitive standard for organized double-six play. All scoring bonuses are 25 points under TDN play.
01

Gameplay

  • Matches are played 2 vs. 2 with a double-six domino set.
  • The first team to 200 points wins the match.
  • The opening hand of each match must begin with double-six.
  • The winner of each hand comes out to start the next hand.
  • The losing team shuffles before each new hand.
02

Winning a hand

A hand is won when a player plays their last domino.

  • Count every remaining domino held at the table, including the winner’s partner and both opponents.
  • Add the total value of all remaining dominoes to the winning team’s score.
  • Come-Out Pass, Straight Pass, and Capicú bonuses are awarded separately.
03

Come-Out Pass · 25

  • A Come-Out Pass occurs when the player coming out plays the opening domino and the next player is forced to pass.
  • Award 25 bonus points to the coming-out team.
  • If the coming-out player’s partner is also unable to play on that opening domino, cancel the bonus.
  • No Come-Out Pass bonus is awarded on the match-opening hand that begins with mandatory double-six.
04

Straight Pass · 25

  • A Straight Pass can occur at any point during a hand when a player makes a legal play and the next three players are all forced to pass.
  • Award 25 bonus points to the team of the player who made that play.
05

Capicú · 25

  • Capicú occurs when a player’s final domino can legally play on either of the two different open ends.
  • Award 25 bonus points in addition to the points won in the hand.
  • Matching open ends do not create Capicú; the two open ends must be different.
06

25-Point ‘Doesn’t Fit’ Rule

  • A 25-point award must fit before 200.
  • If adding the full 25 points would bring a team’s score to 200 or higher, the award is zero and the team’s score remains unchanged.
  • This restriction applies only to a 25-point bonus or award—not the normal points earned by winning a hand.
07

Locked game

A lock occurs when a legal play leaves no further legal plays and players still hold dominoes.

  • The player who made the locking play counts their remaining points against the next opposing player in turn order.
  • The lower remaining point total wins the lock.
  • If the totals are equal, the player who made the locking play wins the tie.
08

Folding

  • A player dealt five doubles may fold the hand and request a redeal.
09

Table etiquette

  • Before the first domino is played, players may organize their dominoes one time only.
  • Once play begins, keep hands in your lap unless playing a domino.
  • Do not rearrange, organize, or touch remaining dominoes except to play your turn.
  • No teammate communication is permitted during a hand. Conversation is permitted between hands.

TWO FATAL VIOLATIONS

Strict means strict.

01

Missed play / false pass

Passing while a legal play is available—even accidentally—ends the hand immediately.

02

Illegal domino play

Placing an incorrect or illegal domino ends the hand immediately.

Officials & conduct

Treat staff, opponents, teammates, and spectators with respect. Tournament officials have final authority over disputes, interpretations, and scoring. Unsportsmanlike conduct, repeated violations, or attempts to gain an unfair advantage may result in disqualification.
